Own a certified Roman bronze AE of Constantine I the Great (AD 272–337), authenticated and slabbed by NGC. This coin represents the reign of one of history’s most transformative figures — the emperor who set Rome on its path toward Christianity and founded Constantinople.

Constantine the Great emerged from the chaos of the Tetrarchy to become sole ruler of the Roman Empire. His reign marked a turning point in world history: he was the first emperor to openly support Christianity, issuing the Edict of Milan in 313 AD granting religious tolerance throughout the empire. His founding of Constantinople in 330 AD laid the groundwork for the Byzantine Empire and the survival of Roman traditions for another thousand years.

Despite his Christian sympathies, Constantine continued to use traditional Roman religious imagery early in his reign to reinforce imperial authority. This coin’s reverse features Jupiter, the chief Roman god, alongside the inscription Jovi Conservatori — "To Jupiter the Protector." It was meant to emphasize divine protection over the emperor and his reign, blending old religious symbols with a new imperial vision.

AE coins from this period typically show Constantine’s laureate or helmeted portrait on the obverse, projecting strength and legitimacy at a time when religious and political change swept through the empire.

Certified by NGC, this AE coin offers collectors a rare glimpse into the transitional world of Constantine’s Rome — where ancient traditions met a new Christian future.
