Own a certified Roman bronze coin of Flavia Maximiana Theodora, authenticated from the famous Epfig Hoard and slabbed by NGC. This piece offers a rare glimpse into the imperial family ties that helped stabilize the late Roman Empire.
Flavia Maximiana Theodora was the stepdaughter of Emperor Maximian and became the wife of Constantius I Chlorus, one of the senior emperors during the Tetrarchic period. Her marriage to Constantius helped to cement important political alliances during a time when shared rule among emperors was designed to bring order to a fractured empire.
Though little is recorded about Theodora’s personal life, she held the prestigious title of Augusta and appeared in imperial imagery as a symbol of dynastic strength and legitimacy. Coins issued in her name helped reinforce the authority and stability of the Tetrarchy.
The bronze coins of Theodora typically feature her veiled and draped bust on the obverse, while the reverse often includes symbolic imagery promoting security, prosperity, and dynastic continuity — values crucial to Rome’s survival during times of political transition.
Recovered from the Epfig Hoard, a significant archaeological find that preserved a large number of late Roman coins, this piece carries both historical and numismatic importance. Certified by NGC, it provides a tangible link to the imperial women who supported Rome’s political structure behind the scenes.
A meaningful addition for collectors interested in Roman imperial families, the Tetrarchy, or coins with direct archaeological provenance.
